Minnesota Wild Prospects: Louie Nanne on the radio, Mathew Dumba's WHL playoff run

It's been a while since we've done a quick prospect update. Sorry. Obviously there's a lot to discuss over the last few weeks with trades, signings and injuries. Johan Larsson and Matt Hackett are out. A pair of 7th round picks are in as Tyler Graovac and Erik Haula have signed ELCs.

Jonas Brodin is still Calder material.

Some of that has been addressed by people better than us. Other parts may be addressed by people who are us later.

For now, here's a couple other things as we try to figure out what to do with the annual FRB draft series.

Nanne on the radio
2012 7th round pick Louie Nanne was on Vancouver sports station Team 1040 yesterday and talked about his year with the Penticton Vees and family history. He also discusses attending the University of Minnesota down the line in addition to following the Wild from afar.

Penticton won the BCHL Interior Division for the second straight year (last year's team won the RBC Cup as the top team in Canadian Junior "A" and featured 2011 2nd round pick Mario Lucia) last week with the Edina, MN native scoring 5 points (4G-1A) in the 5 game series. In addition, he was named the BCHL Player of the Week two weeks ago.

Nanne and the Vees next face Surrey in the Fred Page Cup finals beginning Friday.

Dumba taking on the Hitmen in WHL playoffs
2012 1st round pick Mathew Dumba is currently playing in the second round of the WHL playoffs with Red Deer. The Rebels, who finished fourth in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, swept first round opponent Prince Albert in four games and currently trail Calgary 3 games to 1.

Dumba, meanwhile, has 4 points in 8 games. That includes an overtime winner in Game 3 of the Calgary series which saw the defenseman blast a shot from the point past Hitmen goalie Chris Driedger.

Red Deer and Calgary next play tomorrow (Thursday April 11) in Calgary following the Hitmen's 3-2 win on Tuesday.

1 comment:

  1. Calgary is winning in the series, 3-1. Dumba has been struggling.
