So this is what getting a call is like...
Red Wings forward Jordin Tootoo had a goal taken away in the first period of Minnesota-Detroit Wednesday night when it was ruled that he played the puck with a high stick. On further review, it appears that the puck went off of Dany Heatley's hand and past Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom.
(This is the type of rivalry-changing event that would be great for Minnesota-Detroit and its shoehorned "Rivalry Wednesday" game. It can be brought up the next time the two teams play; when they are in different conferences.)
Of course it isn't the only error so far in the first period, as Matt Kassian (of the recently traded to Ottawa Kassians) made his first appearance in a Wild uniform this season. It's like that time Darroll Powe was credited as Ryan Suter.
Minnesota leads Detroit 1-0 after one period on the strength of a Devin Setoguchi goal.
