Minnesota Announces Prospect Development Camp Roster

It's not Zach Parise or Ryan Suter (which likely will precede any post that doesn't involve the two until they sign in free agency) but the Minnesota Wild today released the roster for next week's prospect development camp in St. Paul.

The camp is an opportunity for the Wild and their coaching staff (along with Houston Aeros head coach John Torchetti) to work hands-on with their prospects and give them on and off-ice advice. This is one of the only opportunities to get most of their younger players and prospects in one place since they are spread out across continents and college players can't attend training camp. It's also a rare chance for fans to see them in person.

More on the roster and scrimmages after the jump...

Minnesota has to be happy with the turnout as every draft pick still with the team since 2008 will be there besides Darcy Kuemper, who is recovering from season-ending surgery. That includes Erik Haula, who missed last year's camp while in Finland, and all seven 2012 picks drafted last month in Pittsburgh.

With 33 players whose rights are held by the Wild, the remaining 12 are made up of undrafted free agents who are looking for a chance to catch on with a NHL team. They include Waterloo forward and future Gopher A.J. Michaelson, Stillwater defenseman Cody Corbett (presently playing for Edmonton in the WHL), St. Cloud State forward Drew LeBlanc (who overcame a season-ending injury in November) and returning invitees Kyle Thomas and Carter Sandlak.

The camp, which runs from July 8-15, has two scrimmages open to the public on July 12th at 7 p.m. and July 15th at 11 a.m. Both Dan and myself will be there covering them like last year and will hopefully have other tidbits as the week goes on.
