It's that dead portion of the year where free agency is over,
no one makes any moves (of course Rick Nash just got traded) and we're stuck with our thoughts and nothing of substance to write about. Or worse, having to go outside.
The above picture came from Regan Bartel via Debi Sprugeon as Minnesota's favorite babyface defenseman got married last weekend. Congrats to Jared as well as new Wild forward Zach Parise on their weddings. Now on with the rest of the show...
Zach Parise/Ryan Suter-related
-I wrote about Michael Russo's excellent 72 Hours piece a week ago but would be remiss to ignore Ben Goessling's "How the Deals Got Done" article over at the St. Paul Pioneer Press. It's a great breakdown of everything that went down.
-Elliotte Friedman's 30 Thoughts column is always a must-read and his last one touches more upon the role Zach Parise had in Chuck Fletcher's coup.
-It's been an ongoing half-serious joke that Mike Modano wants to play for Minnesota again and Jess Myers at 1500ESPN talks to the man himself. I'll hopefully have something on this subject later this week.
-Newly signed Wild forward Jake Dowell gave an exclusive interview to his hometown station WEAU in Eau Claire. Dowell is also on Twitter @JDowell18 if you're into that sort of thing.
First Round Bust Synergy Empire
-Dan wrote about how the Draft provided many steals for Future Considerations.
-Nate points out a picture of Zach Budish and the guy who played Averman in the Mighty Ducks movies. True story, Averman wears a Gopher jersey in the third one. (SB Nation Minnesota)

-2012 fourth round pick Adam Gilmour blogged about his first experience at prospect development camp for the Muskeggon Lumberjacks blog.

-Jonas Brodin wants to stay in the US next season. (Fox Sports North)

-Bryan Reynolds of Hockey Wilderness discusses the chances each prospect has of making the NHL roster in 2012-2013.
-Derek Felska of State of Hockey News took some prospect development camp photos.
-Joel Broda (nearly) steals the show. (The Third Intermission)

-Nick Henry discusses whether the man who cried poor back in April is now a hypocrite or a hero over at Hitting The Post.
-Aeros announcer/jack-of-all-trades Joe O'Donnell is still cranking out original material in the hot part of summer. Here's a two-part interview with Houston GM Jim Mill (part one & part two) and head coach John Torchetti on the heels of development camp. (Aeros.com)

The execs at @fsnorth had to fly LaPanta and the hairpiece on separate tickets, but good news. Both arrived on time & will be ready tonight!

-It's weird having a link post that links to another link post but that's the case; enjoy all the links Aaron has. FSN hosted a bunch of Twins bloggers for last Thursday's Baltimore game, which is pretty cool. I'll be waiting for that to never happen with the Wild. (AaronGleeman.com)
Finally, the hockey community lost a member Friday in the Colorado shooting tragedy - Jessica (Redfield) Gwahi, an aspiring hockey writer/media personality. While I didn't know her, the outpouring and support from those who did is one reason why I'm very proud of the hockey community. There are many great thoughts and eulogies out there like Caity Kaufmann, Ms. Conduct and Patrick Burke of the You Can Play Project where Jessica interned. However, the one that gets me is from someone I just met and who personally knew her - Justin Goldman of the Goalie Guild.
If you can get through that without needing to hug a loved one, you may be a robot.
